6 of the best tips for growing long, healthy nails

Always trying to get longer, healthier natural nails? Read on to learn some of our tips on how to get the nails of your dreams…

Give your nails some TLC

By having a regular manicure, your nails can get the correct treatment by a professional. They can take care of your nails in the correct way and prevent further breakages with their skilled techniques.

Try to always have something on your nails

The best protection to your nails is breathable polish. With this nail polish, you can be sure that there is a seal on the surface to prevent your nails from absorbing anything harmful.

Moisturise your nails and hands

Dry cuticles are tempting to pick and sometimes chew, however, under-moisturised hands can also cause nail breakage. So make sure you keep your hands hydrated with moisturiser and oils.

Drink lots of water

Our nails are an extension of our skin, so keeping our bodies hydrated makes our skin hydrated and allows for healthy nail growth.

Don’t keep your nails in water for a long time

It might be tempting to do a little washing without covering your hands, however, prolonged water exposure can wreak havoc with your nails. When our nails absorb water, they swell and when they dry, they shrink back to normal which may seem fine, however, this constant movement can make your nails weaker. It might be best to wear gloves where possible when you are cleaning or washing dishes.

Don’t use your nails as tools

You may be used to getting your nails involved with day-to-day tasks but it’s not ideal if you’re trying to grow them. Avoid using your nails to open cans, open things, pick at things or push buttons as this is where you can end up weakening or breaking them.
